Bertram Capital, a private equity firm targeting lower middle market companies, has acquired BCI Burke, a manufacturer of commercial play equipment. This is the sixth investment completed in Bertram’s fourth fund.

Burke is a growing brand in the commercial play and recreation services market. The firm offers a broad product offering of play systems, playgrounds and recreation necessities, providing critical infrastructure to communities. The deal will leverage Bertram’s buy and build value creation strategy to focus on further growth, add-on acquisitions, geographic extension and new product creation for Burke.

“The Bertram team differentiated themselves in the sale process through their clear understanding of our business model and go-to-market strategy, shared vision for Burke’s future, and their Bertram Labs resource,” commented Mike Phelan, CEO at Burke. “We look forward to working with Bertram as we continue to deliver on our mission of bringing play to communities around the world.”

BlackArch Partners advised Bertram in the deal.
