Anthropic has confidentially submitted draft registration documents to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed IPO, giving the company the option to proceed with a public listing following the SEC’s review.

The timing of any offering will depend on market conditions, and the number of shares and pricing have not yet been determined, Reuters reported. The filing comes one week after Anthropic disclosed a $65 billion fundraising round that valued the company at $965 billion, up from a reported $380 billion valuation earlier this year. Founded in 2021, Anthropic develops generative AI systems and is best known for its Claude family of large language models. Based in San Francisco, Anthropic serves enterprise and consumer customers globally and has emerged as one of the largest competitors to OpenAI in the foundation-model market.
