Trinseo (NYSE: TSE), a global materials services provider and manufacturer of plastics and latex binders, has completed its acquisition of Heathland B.V., a European collector and recycler of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic wastes.
Heathland focuses on PCR and PIR polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, polystyrene and other thermoplastic waste. The firm then collects, treats and processes plastic waste materials to capture value through the transformation into recycled raw materials for a range of end-markets.
The deal follows Trinseo’s 2030 sustainability goals which see the firm focusing on climate change and incorporating sustainability into its operations.
“Today is another exciting milestone in Trinseo’s transformation journey in becoming a global specialty materials and sustainable solutions provider,” addedFrancesca Reverberi, SVP and chief sustainability officer of Trinseo. “The addition of Heathland to the Trinseo family enables the group to have access to comprehensive recycling technologies and plastic wastes as feedstock. The shared sustainability vision of both companies has now become one. We will continue to invest in the movement toward a circular economy.”
