The Hoffmann Family of Companies has acquired Cedar Crest Ice Cream, a family-owned ice cream manufacturer based in Wisconsin.
The acquisition adds another longstanding Midwestern dairy brand to HF Companies’ portfolio, which includes Oberweis Dairy. Following the transaction, Renato DePaolis, CEO of Oberweis Dairy, will also lead Cedar Crest as HF Companies seeks to leverage the complementary strengths of two regional brands with deep roots in the frozen dessert category.
Founded in 1976, Cedar Crest Ice Cream is headquartered in Cedarburg, Wis., and traces its origins to the Kohlwey family’s dairy heritage. The company manufactures ice cream and frozen desserts at its facility in Manitowoc, Wis., where it also operates the Cedar Crest Ice Cream Parlor. Cedar Crest offers a portfolio of more than 80 ice cream flavors, 10 custard varieties, six sherbets, and three dairy-free sorbets, serving customers across the Midwest through retail and foodservice channels.
