Addman Engineering, a portfolio company of American Industrial Partners, has acquired Castheon Inc., a provider of additive manufacturing technologies for mission-critical space applications. The deal is Addman’s 3rd acquisition in the last 10 months.

Castheon was founded in 2016 by Dr. Youping Gao and is a developer of additive manufacturing processes and metals additive manufacturer for demanding end markets. The firm has experience in metals printing and uses processes to expand the use of difficult to manufacture refractory metals. Castheon additionally partners with spacecraft firms to design and develop complex components.

“This investment affirms ADDMAN’s strategic proposition in space,” commented Joe Calmese, Addman CEO. “We believe that the technologies created by Dr. Gao will revolutionize the additive manufacturing industry and transform thinking around component development for the end markets that Castheon serves.”

“The ability to efficiently produce certain refractory metals via additive manufacturing is a breakthrough for customers who depend on high temperature structural components,” stated Kevin Wilken, partner at American Industrial. “Castheon’s offerings, which include solutions to print Niobium and other refractory metals, have the potential to transform the way additive serves advanced industries.”
