Five additional U.S. states—Massachusetts, Vermont, Indiana, Kansas and Pennsylvania— have joined an existing lawsuit led by California's Attorney General.

The deal will significantly expand Nexstar’s reach to approximately 80 percent of U.S. television households.

The lawsuit follows a similar multi-state action led by attorneys general from several states.

The proposed merger would have valued the combined entity at approximately $2.9 billion in market capitalization.

The deal is expected to close after the previously announced separation of WBD's Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly-traded company, which is now expected to be completed in Q3 2026.
