Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2022 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including Altamont Capital’s Jennifer Mello.

How did you further your firm’s ESG goals?

This past year, I spearheaded the firm’s application for the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment. Additionally, I worked with the deal teams within Altamont to incorporate systematic review of ESG into Altamont’s due diligence process for new investments.

Altamont has also launched a portfolio reporting framework to facilitate ESG monitoring for portfolio companies. In my role as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, I am involved in material legal or risk questions that may arise, whether at the firm or portfolio company level, and responsible for ensuring ESG practices are properly executed.

I sit on the board of the ACP Foundation, which was established in 2020. The foundation partners with charitable organizations that align with Altamont’s mission to alleviate poverty, promote diversity, inclusion and youth empowerment, and strengthen the communities that support Altamont and partner companies’ employees.

In 2020 and 2021, Altamont has supported its charitable partners with 38 grants through the ACP Foundation, including 30 awarded in partnership with portfolio companies.

How are you a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)?

Altamont is committed to expansion of diversity, equity, and inclusion not only within the firm but also within its partner companies. In 2021, I drove Altamont’s efforts to advance diversity on its boards, with a goal of having a woman and a person of color on the board of each controlled Altamont portfolio company by the end of the year.
