British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA)— The group has named Robert Easton chairman. Easton, a managing director and co-head of Carlyle Europe Technology Partners, succeeds Richard Anton, partner at Amadeus Capital Partners. Simon Clark, managing partner of Fidelity Growth Partners Europe, becomes vice-chairman. The BVCA is a public policy advocate for the private equity and venture capital industry, based in London.


CVC Capital Partners— Bertrand Meunier joins the private equity firm as a managing partner and will work out of the London office. His responsibilities include leading a newly formed global consumer goods sector and overseeing the firm’s development in France. Meunier was chairman of the partner committee and head of the sector teams at PAI Partners, which he joined in 1982 .


C.W. Downer & Co.— The investment bank opened an office in Mumbai, India. Managing director Shirish Nimgaonkar, based out of C.W. Downer's headquarters in Boston, will manage the Mumbai office. The firm also has offices in Dublin, Frankfurt, Madrid, Oslo, Paris, Shanghai and Sydney.


First Reserve Corp.— The energy-focused investment group appointed Alex Krueger as president. He has been with First Reserve for 13 years, most recently serving as a managing director in London. He was previously co-head of First Reserve’s buyout funds and has expertise in natural resources. Prior to joining the Greenwich, Conn.-based firm, Krueger worked in the energy group of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in Houston.


Foley & Lardner LLP— The law firm hired E. Thom Rumberger Jr. as a partner in the Palo Alto office. Previously, Rumberger was a shareholder in the Silicon Valley office of Greenberg Traurig LLP. Rumberger focuses his practice on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on emerging growth companies involved in venture capital and private equity transactions. He also represents companies in cross-border transactions and those looking to expand domestically and internationally in the technology, media and telecommunications industries.


Gresham Partners LLC— The firm enlisted Tim Joeng as a principal and senior member of its investment team. In this position, Joegn will handle due diligence and build portfolios for Gresham’s clients. Gresham is a Chicago-based wealth management firm serving affluent families with investable assets of $25 million or more. Before Gresham, Joeng was a portfolio manager and non-marketable securities officer at Williams College Investment Office where he was responsible for managing and investing the college’s private equity and real estate/real assets portfolios. He began his finance career in 1997 as an analyst at J.P. Morgan & Co.

 


 

J. Moore Partners LLC— The technology-focused investment bank opened an office in Washington DC with Kathryn Stewart as managing director. She will advise technology clients globally on mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Stewart covered technology and healthcare as a partner at Alex. Brown. Before that, she was a managing director of Deutsche Bank. She operated the Baltimore office covering New York, the Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest regions.


Robert W. Baird & Co.— The Milwaukee asset management firm announced that investment banker Jason Abt has joined the firm as a managing director. Abt will be a senior member of Baird’s consumer investment banking team, working closely with members of Baird’s existing restaurant practice out of the firm’s San Francisco office. Abt was most recently managing director of corporate development at The Vincraft Group, a private equity fund focused on the wine industry.


TSG Consumer Partners LLC— The San Francisco private equity firm elected James O’Hara president. O’Hara, who joined the firm in 1998, will continue with his position as managing director of TSG where he has been responsible for transaction structuring. Before he was hired at TSG, O’Hara was a consultant at Bain & Co. and a corporate and securities attorney with Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP.
