Unilever PLC, in the midst of scrapping three-fourths of its brands, has put its Hispanic-American focussed Iberia Foods Corp. on the block. Iberia Foods came to Unilever in its $24.3 billion acquisition of Bestfoods in October 2000. Unilever is now planning to divest 1,200 of its brandnames globally to help boost the remaining 400, and Iberia didn’t make the cut. Unilever will be putting more thrust behind such names as Hellmann’s mayonnaise and Lipton teas.
