InterGrowth, the annual conference hosted by the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) has always offered a great way to "meet all the people you need to know - before you know you need to meet them." At the 2014 conference, you'll be able to meet - and meet with - other dealmakers more efficiently than ever, thanks to programming changes and an updated mobile application, explains CapitalSouth Partners' Ken Berryman, chairman of the 2014 conference and chapter president of ACG Kentucky. The mobile app, known as InterGrowth Connect, will enable dealmakers to identify and schedule meetings with other attendees whose business is most relevant. Berryman says it's a more modern approach to networking.
InterGrowth 2014 will be held April 28-30, at the luxurious Aria in Las Vegas. Located on the Las Vegas strip, the Aria boasts a casino, nightclubs and lounges, Cirque du Soleil Zarkana and upscale boutiques. Highlights of this year's conference include:
InterGrowth's new networking mobile application, InterGrowth Connect, will pull the attendee list and profiles from LinkedIn, allow for appointment and session scheduling that integrates with Outlook and iCalendar, allow for upgraded company profiles to promote businesses, and include sponsorship highlights. The mobile application works on iPhones, iPads, plus Android and Blackberry systems.
National Football League quarterback Peyton Manning, who played in the 2014 Super Bowl for the Denver Broncos, will give a speech on leadership, including the basics of teamwork, building a strong bench and competitive spirit. Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR), will also keynote the event, and speak about his business philosophy and insights on ingenuity. Stone also helped create and launch Xanga and Blogger.
A panel of middle market CEOs will give an update on the current state of private equity, global trends, emerging segments, deal data, credit markets and alternative investments. Panelists include John Martin of lender GE Antares Capital, Hiter Harris of investment bank Harris Williams & Co. and Stewart Kohl of private equity firm the Riverside Co. The panel will be moderated by David Snow, co-founder of Privcap.
ACG DealExpo, an event that replaces ACG DealSource, will be held on April 29. Sell-side and buy-side investment bankers will set up tables with their information and network with dealmakers trying to buy or sell a business. Each investment bank will have a page within the InterGrowth mobile application with a profile and area to post teasers for attendees to view prior to the event.
ACG Capital Connection will be held poolside. The opening reception, with capital providers hosting tables throughout the pool area, allows dealmakers to meet new people and find opportunities to explore during the remainder of InterGrowth.
The reception on April 29 will incorporate special segments for each bar. Segments include Women in Growth, Going Global, LPs, Health care, Information Technology and Energy. Business-to-business products and services will also be located in the area to allow dealmakers to diversify their networking time.
The InterGrowth Lounge, a dedicated meeting space, will allow dealmakers to reserve tables for meetings during the course of the entire event. Dealmakers who purchased a table will be able to use it all day during the two main days of the event.
Lots of opportunities to golf. A pre-conference golf tournament will be held at the Anthem Country Club in Henderson, Nev., on April 28 at 12 p.m. And the ACG golf tournament, which will be held at the TPC Las Vegas golf course, will take place on April 29 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
