Trek Bicycle Corp. has purchased Electra Bicycle Co. LLC.

Electra , headquartered in Vista, Calif., makes bicycles, parts and accessories that are distributed in 35 countries. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Trek, headquartered in Waterloo, Wisc., also makes bicycles and accessories.

Electra was backed by Los Angeles private equity firm Caltius Equity Partners, which invested in April 2007. The firm makes investments between $5 million and $20 million. The firm invests in the consumer products, consumer and business services, light manufacturing and health care services industries.

John Neuner, Red Norrie, Ryan Budlong, Matt Conaty and David Bhattacharyya from Harris Williams & Co acted as Electra’s financial advisers on the deal.

In another bicycle deal, private equity firm the Riverside Co. bought Y. International, a Tokyo-based bicycle retailer, in November.
