One response by Mergers & Acquisitions magazine’s parent company, Thomson Financial, to the September 11 terrorist attacks has been the launching of the “NYC Displaced Financial Firms Directory,” which provides companies displaced by the attacks with the opportunity to list new contact and location information and provides clients and customers with a way to get in touch with their relocated business contacts. The directory, set up online on September 25 by the Thomson Financial Media division, can be accessed at http://wtc.tgbr.com/ searchlisting.html. According to Brent Newman, director of the global product data group, “Thomson Financial Media is committed to helping those firms that have had to relocate their employees and offices. Our goal is to assist these companies in updating their own information and allowing their customers, vendors, business partners, and associates to locate their new offices and their personnel conveniently.” Newman says that the directory lists about 1,000 financial services companies, including U.S. banks, U.S. branches of international banks, securities firms, and broker/dealers.
