U.S. companies are climbing off the block. In the weeks following the Sept. 11 attacks, three companies Mergers & Acquisitions Report has written on in the last few months cancelled their searches for buyers and made no indication when the initiatives would recommence. Bankers disagreed on how long a trend of abandoned strategic alternative reviews would go on, but in the meantime, companies are best to focus internally to stay ahead, they said.
