Schwan's Co. has acquired frozen pizza makers Better Baked Foods and Drayton Foods. The deal follows Schwan's purchase of MaMa Rosa's Pizza earlier in 2017. The latter is now called Schwan's MaMa Rosa's.

Drayton, based in Fargo, North Dakota, produces frozen pizza crusts, dough, breadsticks and dinner rolls under the Two Sicily's brand. Better Baked Foods, headquartered in North East, Pennsylvannia, makes frozen pizzas and sandwiches that are sold through the Better Baked Classics, Daybreak Classics, Papa Presto, Zap-A-Snack and Odyssey brands. Financial terms of the deal we're not disclosed.

“The U.S. consumer’s passion for pizza continues to evolve and grow in exciting ways,” says Schwan's CEO Dimitrios Smyrnios. The company, located in Minnesota, manufactures frozen pizzas and desserts. Schwan's owns the Red Baron, Tony's, Bon Appetit, Freschetta, Mrs. Smith's, Edwards and Pagoda brands.

Deals for packaged and frozen food companies are picking up, as consumers are cooking more at home. Advent International acquired pasta sauce producer Rao's Specialty Foods; Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Co. Ltd. bought packaged side dish producer Bellisio Foods; and Glencoe Capital Management purchased dip maker Robert Rothschild Farm.
