SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) is buying Fieldglass for an undisclosed amount.
Chicago-based Fieldglass provides technology for procuring and managing contingent labor and services, including offshore engagements and independent contractors. The company's clients include GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ).
The deal gives SAP the ability to provide businesses with services that manage their entire workforce. The company acquired business commerce software group Ariba in 2012, and SuccessFactors, a human-capital management software company, in 2011.
Fieldglass is backed by Chicago private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners, which invested in the company in 2010. The firm's most recent deals include the merger of Chesapeake Services Ltd. and Multi Packaging Solutions. Madison owns 50 percent of the combined company.
