PluralSight LLC has paid $45 million for Digital-Tutors, an online training resource.

Digital-Tutors, headquartered in Oklahoma City, provides more than 1,500 creative skills courses aimed at creative professionals. The company provides training to Pixar Animation Studios, DreamWorks, Rockstar Games and Electronic Arts.

PluralSight provides online learning resources to software developers and information technology specialists. The company has $26.5 million in venture capital backing from Insight Venture Partners.

PluralSight, led by CEO Aaron Skonnard (pictured), will add the courses to its 1,500 information technology courses to form a larger e-learning library for professionals, academic institutions and businesses. 

The company has been busy scooping up assets. Over the past year, Pluralsight took over Seattle-based PeepCode in July; Chicago-based information technology TrainSignal for $23.6 million in August; and Raleigh, N.C.-based Tekpub in October. Deal terms for the PeepCode and Tekpub deals remain undisclosed.

Companies are increasingly looking to move into the e-learning space. In March, Hellman & Friedman LLC agreed to buy Renaissance Learning Inc. from Permira Advisers LLPfor $1.1 billion. Also in March, CIP Capital bought OnCourse Learning Co.from the Riverside Co. and e-learning software provider Skillsoft Ltd. was sold to European buyout firm Charterhouse Capital Partners LLP for $2.3 billion.
