Piper Jaffray & Co. has hired Dustin Avey as vice president in investment banking for Public Finance Services. Avey will service public finance issuers in the Midwest working out of the firm’s Kansas City office. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Dustin was a public finance banker at Hutchinson Shockey in Milwaukee. Piper Jaffray has also expanded its health care investment banking platform with the hire of Stuart Duty, as a managing director and co-head of the health care investment banking team. He will lead the firm’s biotechnology effort and will be based in New York. He most recently was a partner, the chief operating officer and director of strategic investments for Oracle Investment Management, Inc., in Greenwich, Conn.
