Angelo Gordon & Co. LP – The New York asset manager has hired Trevor Clark and Chris Williams as managing directors to lead a new direct-lending business in Chicago. Prior to joining, Clark and Williams co-founded and built the direct-lending business of Madison Capital Funding LLC, a subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Co. While under their leadership, Madison Capital won Mergers & Acquisitions’ M&A Mid-Market Award for Lender of the Year for 2012. In September 2013, Clark and Williams were dismissed by New York Life for “violating company policies pertaining to personal investments and personal business activities,” according to the life insurer.


Friedman Fleischer & Lowe (FFL)– The San Francisco private equity firm tapped Robert Eckert, former CEO of Mattel Inc. (Nasdaq: MAT), as an operating partner. Prior to Mattel, he was president and CEO of Kraft Foods Group Inc. (Nasdaq: KRFT). Before that, he held a variety of other executive posts, including president of Kraft’s Oscar Mayer Foods division.  He currently serves on the boards of directors of McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD), Levi Strauss & Co. and Amgen Inc. (Nasdaq: AMGN).


Guggenheim Securities – Ten professionals from the London office of Lazard Capital Markets are jumping to the capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, an investment and advisory firm headquartered in New York. Guggenheim recently bought Lazard's London segment for an undisclosed price. Duncan Riefler, who oversaw Lazard's London operations, was previously a co-founder of brokerage group Sonas Partners  and before that, was with Merrill Lynch. Joining Riefler at Guggenheim are Nannette Bax-Stevens, Phillip Bloch, David Corney, Piero Greco, Alison Kilsby, Jay Larkin, Tomas Mannion, Dennis McKenna, and Samir Patel.


 Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP– Peg McGlinch (pictured) joined the Los Angeles law firm's federal government affairs and public policy practice as a managing director. Based in Washington, D.C., she has worked for nearly a decade focusing on international trade and tax issues. McGlinch has served as legislative counsel to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), and was previously legislative director and tax counsel to Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. She was also chief of staff to Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.).


Walker & Dunlop Inc.(NYSE: WD) – The Bethesda, Maryland holding company has expanded the commercial property funding team with three new hires: Paul Jankovsky, Kimberly Riordan and Geoff Smith. In April, Jankovsky stepped in as senior vice president in Dallas, where he will be head of origination. Previously, he was a managing director at JM Advisors Inc. Riordan left Rockwood Real Estate Advisors and joined Walker Dunlop as vice president in the firm’s New York office. Joining her in New York is managing director Smith, whose career in real estate lending spans nearly 30 years. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Smith served as the head of origination and distribution for Hudson Realty Capital, a real estate debt fund manager also based in New York.
