We witnessed some overwhelming successes within our organization in 2006 – a year of record-breaking attendance at InterGrowth 2006; growing attendance of more than 1,000 at chapter and regional “Capital Connections” in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia; and burgeoning ACG membership that has surpassed 11,000. Chapter programs and networking events are attracting more participants as ACG reinforces its position as the premier professional organization focused on M&A, corporate growth, and corporate development. Our growth is supported by a robust dealmaking environment, soaring corporate profits, strong chapter leadership, and tremendous effort by leaders on our board of directors. We especially would like to acknowledge Patrick Hurley, Chairman of the Board in 2006, for his unwavering and unselfish leadership. Many agree that Patrick helped ACG realize its full potential. We thank Peter Coffey of ACG Wisconsin, whose leadership as Chairman of the Board in 2005 established the framework for moving our association forward. Although Peter concluded his board service at the end of December, we extend our deepest appreciation to him for his remarkable contributions to our organization. Our primary focus this year will be building “One ACG Community.” We’re 53 chapters strong, yet we achieve our greatest successes when sharing best practices and striving to help every chapter be as viable as possible. We look forward to enhanced cooperation among chapters, flourishing membership, and ongoing innovation and top-quality networking programs from first-rate chapter leaders throughout the association. We plan to continue to add value by providing marketing collateral, which supports our private equity, corporate, and intermediary segments; boosting media coverage; providing a weekly e-newsletter published by SourceMedia called Merger Mogul; and providing connectivity through our iMIS technology platform. We warmly welcome ACG Frankfurt and ACG Dusseldorf as “Chapters in Formation.” We’re pleased to have them join the ACG community. Bring it on 2007! We look forward to enhancing networking opportunities, facilitating the best dealmaking opportunities anywhere, and continually providing the best value for your membership investment. Mark Your Calendars The ACG community will convene for InterGrowth 2007 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort, May 2-4, for a blockbuster Capital Connection, Deal Source, and an array of speakers, including Tom Ridge, former Head of Homeland Security; retired U.S. Army General Barry McCaffrey; Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com and Eons.com; and Sean Berkowitz, Enron Task Force Director.
