O2 Investment Partners LLC and Midwest Mezzanine Funds have made a controlling investment in Packaging Concepts & Design Inc.
Troy, Michigan-based Packaging Concepts provides management services that help handle sourcing, design and periodic replenishment deliveries. The company also makes returnable and disposable packaging products. Terms of the investment were not disclosed.
The investment should help the company expand in Mexico, Europe, South America and Russia.
O2, headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is a private equity firm that looks to pick up majority stakes in small and middle-market manufacturing, niche distribution, service and technology businesses. The firm is also invested in Greco Aluminum Railings Ltd., which makes balcony railings.
Chicago-based Midwest Mezzanine generally provides junior capital to privately-owned middle market companies in the U.S. the company invests between $3 million and $15 million in manufacturers, value-added distributors, consumer products and business services companies.
Angle Advisors provided financial advice to Packaging Concepts on the deal.
Other recent packaging transactions include Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP's purchase of SPG Holdings LLC, which makes deli wraps and liners for the food industry, and Bain Capital's purchase of Envision Plastics and Ecoplast Corp.
