The Federal Communications Commission is set to open a public comment period on whether it should let several wireless companies out of their $16 billion bid for NextWave Telecom’s spectrum. And one lawyer involved in the situation thinks the FCC will ease its tough stance. “I think it’s more than 50% likely that’s the direction the FCC is heading,” said the litigation partner, who represents one of the wireless companies involved and would only speak on the condition of anonymity.
