ACG CEO Dan Varroney proudly announced his staff of seven employees, effective September 1, 2005. Five have been working with ACG for several years, and two are new to the team. All bring the experience and talent necessary to move ACG to the “next level.” “I’m really pleased with this group of dedicated people driving the ACG value proposition,” said Varroney. “They all realize the importance of meeting our chapter and member needs with full and open fiscal accountability.” Leading the financial area is Doug Gustafson, who has provided this work for ACG over the last six years. Working with Varroney, the ACG board treasurer and assistant treasurer, Gustafson will help develop budgets, provide bank reconciliations and profit and loss statements; handle accounts payable and receivable; track and report on ACG’s investment portfolio; recommend and maintain insurance and other vendor relations; and file taxes for the association. “Doug has been performing most of these responsibilities for ACG since before 2000, and I’m pleased with his work product, intelligence, and positive attitude. With Doug’s involvement, I’m certain we will achieve the fiscal targets and accountability the board desires.” Leading the marketing and media relations area is Bill Haynes, who launched his firm of BackBay Communications in Boston on October 1, 2005. Working with Bill are Judy Iacuzzi, ACG’s marketing director for 10 years, and Pat Donnelly, new to the ACG area, who will serve as communications manager with heavy involvement in the developing ACG website. “The marketing communications area carries more significance than ever for ACG,” said Varroney. “Members have told us both anecdotally and through surveys that gaining visibility in the marketplace is a priority, in fact, the first priority for ACG. “We are looking to boost ACG’s visibility in the leading business media throughout the world so that ACG becomes the obvious first choice for expertise in corporate growth and M&A. Co-branded surveys, such as the ACG-Thomson survey published twice a year, and a recharged ACG website program are major components to achieving our marketplace position of the leading authority on corporate growth. The team we have assembled to help us do this — Bill, Judy and Pat — is qualified to move these issues forward and to a new and higher level.” Leading the ACG InterGrowth Conference program are familiar faces Bill Padnos and Jim McCambridge. An employee of The Center for Association Growth (TCAG), Padnos has provided the lead staff position for InterGrowth for the last six years; TCAG employee McCambridge is going into his second year as sales manager. In his first year he exceeded the InterGrowth sponsorship goal by 40%. “These are solid ACG staff members,” said Varroney. “The exceptional quality of the InterGrowth meeting and the record level of sponsorship are proof of their abilities and commitment to success.” Carol Jezierski, new to ACG but a longtime assistant to Varroney at the National Association of Manufacturers, will provide support to the ACG board and serve as the official ACG liaison to the executive directors and administrators working at the chapters. “The administrators are a key source of knowledge for each chapter, and with Carol’s help and friendly approach, we’ll stay closely in touch with the priorities and concerns of all 50 local ACG communities.” Contact information for the new staff is posted in the Chapter Leadership Network section at www.acg.org.
