Competitive broadband telecommunications provider Net2000 Communications Inc. has hired reputed restructuring specialist Jefferies & Co. to look at strategic and financial alternatives. A spokeswoman at $8 million market cap Net2000, however, refused to attribute any significance to the announcement. “We hire a lot of different [advisors] in a given year. It’s a very common practice,” especially for telecommunications firms, she said. She would not say what other firms the Herndon, Va.-based company hired this year and deferred other comment to its Oct. 22 press release.
