The pioneer of mobile bank deposit software, Mitek (Nasdaq: MITK), has closed a deal for IDchecker, which develops verification services.
IDchecker provides identity, document verification and facial recognition through cloud-based software.
Mitek says the deal solidifies its position as a leader in the mobile-capture market. The San Diego-based company created mobile deposit software that is used by more than 3,700 banks, brokerages and insurance companies.
“Consumer preference for shopping and opening accounts via a mobile device is growing and organizations around the world are seeking to optimize the mobile channel to capture these potential customers,” says James DeBello, CEO of Mitek.
Mobile technology is a driving force behind deals in numerous sectors, including video games, where Starbreeze just made three acquisitions, and retail, where Anchor Equity Partners and KKR picked up a stake in ticketing company Ticket Monster Inc.
