Small oil and gas exploration company, Maynard Oil Co., is looking at all strategic alternatives for itself, including a sale. But at least one Street source questioned the timing. “It’s a strange time to put yourself up for sale now. If you were going to do it, you should have done it,” said Brian Prokop, an analyst with Peters & Co. He was surprised at the an-nouncement, as the oil-and-gas M&A jamboree has been going on for much of the past year and had slowed as many in the industry believe gas prices have hit bottom.
