IPC Healthcare Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM) has acquired two provider groups, Arcwell Medical and Innovative PsychiatriCare, both in New York.

Arcwell is a post-acute internal medicine practice, and PsychiatriCare is a post-acute psychiatry group.

IPC, headquartered in North Hollywood, California, is a hospital and post-acute health care provider. The company has physicians in more than 400 hospitals and 1,700 post-acute care facilities.

Several other businesses have been consolidating physician groups, in part because of demands put on health care providers by the Affordable Care Act, which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld in a June 25, 6-3 decision. In March, AmSurg Corp.'s (Nasdaq: AMSG) physician services unit, Sheridan, closed a deal for Radiology Associates of Hollywood PA. Before that, in January, Mednax (NYSE: MD) bought Memac Associates PC, an anesthesiology practice.
