Baker & McKenzie — The Chicago law firm hired Jeremy White as a partner. He will be based in the firm’s Tokyo office as a member of the corporate mergers and acquisitions practice group. White previously worked for a London-based law firm but has been working in Tokyo since August 2007. At Baker & McKenzie, he will specialize in cross-border transactions.


Carlyle Group LP (Nasdaq: CG) — The Washington, D.C. private equity firm has named Kewsong Lee as deputy chief investment officer for corporate private equity. Lee joins Carlyle from private equity firm Warburg Pincus where he was managing director and member of the executive management group.


Foros Group — Jill Goodman joins as the New York financial services firm as managing director. Prior to Foros, Goodman was a managing director at Rothschild, which she joined in 2010. Prior to that, she was a managing director at Lazard Ltd. (NYSE: LAZ) for twelve years. She also worked as a banker at Bear Stearns Cos. Inc. and as a lawyer at Mayer Brown. A 20-year advisory veteran, has advised a number of big-name clients, including Icahn Enterprises LP, Syms Corp. and the special committee of CBOT Holdings Inc. in the 2007 merger with Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings Inc. Goodman is also a director and committee member of Chicago-based CBOE Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: CBOE).


Investcorp SA — Maud Brown has been promoted from principal to managing director of the North America and Europe corporate investment team of the Bahrain-based private equity firm. To strengthen Investcorp’s presence in North America, Brown has relocated to New York from the London office, where she has been based since joining the firm in 2001. In 2013, Brown was involved in the sale of IPH Group, a French distributor of industrial supplies, to PAI Partners. In 2012, Brown led Investcorp’s acquisition of Georg Jensen, Denmark’s classic luxury brand. In her new role, Brown will continue to focus on deal origination. Prior to joining Investcorp, Brown was an associate at Merrill Lynch and an analyst at Salomon Brothers. She received a degree in business and finance from ESCP Europe (Paris Graduate School of Management), as well as a law degree from Paris Law School. Investcorp’s recent investments include Paper Source Inc. in September and Tyrrells Potato Crisps in August. The firm bought upscale kitchenware retailer Sur La Table in 2011 and acquired SourceMedia, the publisher of Mergers & Acquisitions, in 2004.


Macquarie Capital — The corporate advisory and capital markets arm of Australia's largest investment bank appointed Rob Lester a managing director of the real estate group in New York. Lester joins from the Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX)where he spent about 10 years, most recently as a managing principal in the Park Hill real estate group.


Weld North LLC — The Greenwich, Conn. private equity firm tapped technology specialist Adam Klaber as managing director. With nearly thirty years of experience, Klaber will assist Weld North in sourcing deals. Klaber has held a range of senior management positions and joins Weld North from IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM), where he was most recently a managing partner for the computer company’s global business services segment, overseeing operations in Latin America and Southwest Europe. Klaber joined IBM in 2002 through the acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, where he was a partner.
