It may be game over for Interplay Entertainment Corp.’s M&A plans, predicted an analyst who tracks the microcap personal computer and video game developer. On Aug. 14, along with forming a special committee to look at strategic options, including a sale, Interplay announced its second quarter numbers. The game developer earned $21 million on revenue of $11.8 million, compared with a year-earlier loss of $12.4 million on revenue of $15 million. Interplay attributed its net income to the sale of its Shiny Entertainment division to InfoGrames SA for $48 million.
