Healthcare information technology (IT) company DAOU Systems Inc. announced Aug. 10 it has been in talks to be bought by Ross Perot’s Perot Systems Corp. at a price which “would not be at a substantial premium over the current market price.” And at least a few analysts believe that in announcing its price range, it has unnecessarily sealed for itself a grim fate. Even though DAOU recently replaced its management and swallowed $827,000 in restructuring charges in the last quarter, the company has said it does not believe it can grow itself sufficiently or land enough contracts being small and independent.
