Golden Gate Capital has acquired Safety Technology Holdings Inc. (STH) for an undisclosed amount.
Plymouth, Mich.-based STH provides test and measurement-instrument services used to establish safety standards in the automotive, aerospace, industrial and medical markets.
“Golden Gate’s investment in STH is evidence of the strong interest we continue to see in the market for test and measurement solution providers from both strategic and financial buyers,” says Jay Hernandez, a director at investment bank Harris Williams & Co.
San Francisco private equity firm Golden Gate has about $12 billion in capital under management. In April, the firm picked up Springs Window Fashions.
STH was backed by private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital. The Chicago firm focuses on middle-market deals and closed a $603 million fund in March 2011.
Bill Roman, Hernandez, Matt Volinski, Chris Zeien and Julien Darmon from Harris Williams advised Wynnchurch on the deal, while Foley & Lardner provided legal advice.
