Genband has purchased a mobile communications business from Fring.
The business, a mobile IP communications service, works across smartphones and allows mobile group video chat, two-way video chat, voice calls and texts. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Israel-based Fring has raised around $30 million from venture capital investors including Pitango Venture Capital, North Bridge and Veritas Capital.
Frisco, Texas-based Genband provides networking services to service providers and companies. The company’s technology facilitates multimedia voice, data and video communication.
Genband expects the deal to expand its cloud portfolio for the consumer market.
