The $568 million tender for Mynd Corp. by Computer Sciences Corp. most likely rests on whether the companies can divest, to a buyer satisfactory to the Federal Trade Commission, Mynd’s injury management database, which is called Claims Outcome Advisor (COA). COA, which the VP of information technology at one of Mynd’s client’s referred to as a “loss module,” and its counterpart at Computer Sciences, Colossus, are the only two such products on the market. COA and Colossus enable insurance industry clients to anticipate the return-to-work outcomes for injured employees of the companies they serve.
