The four Florida chapters of ACG-Orlando, Tampa Bay, North Florida and South Florida — held a combined conference entitled, Spotlight Florida: 2005 M&A Conference and Capital Connection, the first of its kind in Florida with the largest aggregation of chapters ever to co-host an ACG event. That Florida Gov. Jeb Bush addressed the audience was just one factor that made the Thursday, Nov. 3 conference, which included an ACG Capital Connection and educational sessions, enormously successful, according to Conference Chair, Kenn Gluckman, of General Counsel Advisors in Maitland, Fla. “I was thrilled with the success of the conference,” said Gluckman, who is also president of ACG Orlando. “A strong steering committee, support team and coordination between the four Florida chapters made for a ground-breaking conference. Participation by the Governor and an entertaining keynote from Dr. Jim Loehr were highlights of the event in addition to the great networking we accomplished. “With more than 400 in attendance and great feedback from attendees, we are proud of our accomplishment and looking forward to an even better event next year,” Held at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, the gathering began for some attendees the day before. A sponsor/exhibitor appreciation reception followed an afternoon of golf on Wednesday prior to the Capital Connection, which began Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. The Governor gave his remarks over lunch and was followed by Dr. Loehr. The afternoon sessions, directed to corporate attendees in particular, focused on doing business in Florida and strategies for success. (c) 2005 Mergers and Acquisitions Journal and SourceMedia, Inc.
