According to a recently released study, staffing M&A in the United States will likely pick up this year, particularly among privately held companies. Houston-based investment bank De Bellas & Co. reported that 43 staffing companies were either sold or merged with another business in the fourth quarter. In all, 161 companies were acquired last year, down 39% from 1999 and 63% from 1998. Still, De Bellas expects an increase in M&A activity within the $140 billion-in-annual-revenue U.S. staffing industry.
