Kleinfelder Inc. has acquired Hood Engineering & Technical Services in the latest oil and gas services deal.
Alberta, Canada-based Hood provides engineering, procurement and construction management services to clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical and manufacturing industries. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Kleinfelder, a San Diego consulting firm, expects the acquisition to help it grow in the Canadian market. The combined entity will provide full-service engineering, architecture and environmental consulting services to construction management groups.
The takeover comes during a busy time for oil and gas services companies, as buyers look to bulk up their offerings for energy companies. In June, Mastec Inc. (NYSE: MTZ) acquired energy infrastructure group Pacer Construction for $126 million. Earlier in June, GE (NYSE: GE) picked up Cameron's (NYSE: CAM) reciprocating compression division, which provides parts to the oil and gas industry, for $550 million.
