And we at Mergers & Acquistions Report think it’s not just the number of announced U.S. deals-down 30%-on the decline, but also the number of companies looking for a buyer. Last week we had the chance to talk with a few bankers about the seeming drop-off in deal flow, and when it might come back. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain statistical information from Thomson Financial Securities Data since files on companies looking for a buyer are altered once they find one or call off their search.
