Bob Cotter left his post as co-head of M&A at Salomon Smith Barney to become Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown’s new global head of M&A. He began work at Alex. Brown on Aug. 1 and is responsible for coordinating M&A strategy across the Americas, Europe and the Asia Pacific Region. With 25 years in the business, and most recently six years at Salomon Smith Barney, Cotter has advised on a few of the most publicized deals of the year to date: Bestfoods in its proposed $24.3 billion acquisition of Unilever N.V., and US Airways Group Inc.’s pending $11.4 billion acquisition by UAL Group.
