Cookson Group Plc is the third party negotiating exclusively with Global Industrial Technologies, Inc., according to a refractories industry source. “From what I heard in the business, it’s Cookson,” said the source who requested anonymity. However, he also expressed doubt about London-based Cookson’s ability to take out Dallas-based Global with minimal antitrust pain. On May 12, Cookson announced its planned $410 million acquisition of Premier Refractories International Inc., a sub of New York-based The Alpine Group, Inc.
