Chaotic Moon Studios Inc., a mobile application developer for well-known brands—Disney (NYSE: DIS) and Marvel—has purchased digital advertising service ThoughtLeadr.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The San Francisco-based target—whose clients include Paramount Pictures Corp., PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP), Sony Corp. (NYSE: SNE) and Toshiba Corp. (TYO: 6502) — builds custom social-advertising units similar to sponsored posts on social media platforms, such as Twitter Inc.

ThoughtLeadr, which launched in May 2012 after receiving $400,000 in angel funding, is also expected to help Choatic Moon better leverage social data from users of mobile devices.

Chaotic Moon’s other clients include CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS), Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL), General Mills Inc. (NYSE: GIS), Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT), News Corp.’s (Nasdaq: NWSA) Fox and Pizza Hut Inc.

This is the third acquisition for Austin, Texas-based Chaotic Moon, since it was founded in 2010.

The company acquired risk metrics and security software provider Symbiot Security Inc. in April 2012, as well as Dollar App Inc., a San Francisco-based mobile application developer founded in 2008 by Twitter co-creator Dom Sagolla
