Carl Zeiss AG is buying Xradia Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Pleasanton, Calif.-based Xradia provides 3-D , x-ray microscopes for industrial and academic research.

After the deal closes, Xradia will operate under the name Carl Zeiss X-ray Microscopy Inc.

Zeiss, headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany, develops technology for industrial services, research, medical technology and consumer optics. The company’s segments also include semiconductor manufacturing, industrial metrology, microscopy and vision care.
