Christian book publisher Thomas Nelson Inc. (TNI), has retained UBS Warburg to help it explore strategic options, including a sale, for one of its units. Nashville, Tenn.-based, TNI, which competes against fellow Bible publishers Zonderman Publishing House and Tyndale House Publishers Inc., publishes Christian-oriented books and other products. The $100 million market cap company is looking at options for its C.R. Gibson division. Via Gibson, TNI produces wedding, baby and photo albums, in addition to a stationery line, Creative Papers. The division generates roughly 32%, or $70 million, of TNI’s $220 million in annual revenue. For TNI’s third quarter ended Dec. 31, Gibson posted operating income of negative $3 million compared to negative operating income of $819,000 for the year-earlier period.
