As the Northeast braces for what might be the biggest blizzard in years, AccuWeather Inc. has agreed to buy a meteorology company.  

WeatherBank Inc., headquartered in Edmond, Oklahoma, provides comprehensive weather databases, technology and programming and consulting services, including custom forecasting, ambient air quality monitoring, instrumentation and calibration, environmental system audits and forensic weather studies. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

AccuWeather's commercial services business, AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions Inc., will integrate WeatherBank's services into the business.

State College, Pennsylvania-based weather forecasting service AccuWeather has made other acquisitions, including Sky Motion Research Inc. in 2013.
