Private equity-backed Accella Performance Materials has purchased Burtin Polymer Labs and Coating and Foam Solutions, just one day after announcing the acquisition of Premium Spray Products.

Both of the Cartersville, Georgia-based companies manufacture spray foams and coatings for roofing and insulation, as well as the Bullet Liner brand of spray elastomer, which is used for truck bed liners and heavy-duty coatings.

Accella, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, manufactures polyurethane and recycled rubber products. The business says the acquisitions allow it to expand its manufacturing footprint and add more polyurethane technology.

Accella has been backed by New York private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners since 2012. Under Arsenal, Accella (originally Dash Multi-Corp.) has made a slew of add-on acquisitions, including Lamberti Spa's photoinitiator business in July, and IPS Polymer Systems Inc. in March.

More widely, the coatings and sealants market has hosted a lot of deal activity. Other transactions have come from American Securities LLC, which agreed to buy Arsenal's Royal Adhesives and Sealants LLC in April; and PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), which picked up IVC Industrial Coatings Inc. in June.

Paints and coatings business PPG made several acquisitions in 2014, which led to the business' win of Mergers & Acquisitions M&A Mid-Market Strategic Buyer of the Year Award.
