Although Century Aluminum Co.’s stock rose last week on takeout speculation that Alcoa Inc. may have an interest in the company, closely held Century is not going anywhere unless it wants to. And one shareholder said he would not be surprised if a deal was hammered out. In the four-day trading period beginning on Feb. 1, Century, which opened at $11 a share, reached as high as $16.25 per share. At press time, Century, which produces primary aluminum closed at $14.13. Insiders control 77% of Century.
