Looking to stengthen its U.S. M&A capabilities and thus far left out of the investment banking merger bonanza of the last few months, Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown swooped in on the San Francisco offices of Lehman Brothers to pick up a team of no less than seven bankers. And if the new head of Alex. Brown’s West Coast technology group Robert Thornton has his way, the rest of the Lehman group will soon come over as well. Thornton said in an interview with Mergers & Acquisitions Report that the Alex. Brown hire reduced Lehman’s West Coast tech group by nearly one half, leaving nine in the group, all of whom are junior. And Thornton said that he hopes to bring the remaining junior associates into the Alex. Brown fold, too.
