ACG New York’s second annual evening event on Nov. 11, 2004, captured the attention of more than 450 people and 33 private equity groups, who purchased tables to share wine tastings while networking about investment opportunities. ACG New York planners targeted investment bankers and intermediaries and successfully lured them in the door with a first-class evening that offered networking capacity, wine, and food that were superior. The planners wanted the event to be considered a benefit of membership, and they succeeded, judging from the many positive evaluations. New this year was a pre-event wine tasting call and presentation hosted by Chris Cree, one of the country’s 20 “masters of wine” and owner of Clinton Wine & Gourmet in Clinton, N.J. ACG New York Administrator Mike Roer acknowledged the work and dedication of all ACG volunteers, especially Robert Landis, who conducted weekly conference calls to ensure the project’s completion and the evening’s success. Overall response to the event was so positive that ACG New York is already planning next year’s (third annual) event. Copyright 2005 Thomson Media Inc.
