At this week’s annual Association for Corporate Growth Intergrowth conference, Charter Communications Inc. and Jones Pharma Inc., a sub of King Pharmaceuticals Inc., will be recognized for outstanding corporate growth over a five-year period. Each year, ACG chooses two companies, one emerging and one established, which have demonstrated superior growth both internally and externally, via acquisitions. This year, $4.9 billion market cap cable operator Charter, based in St. Louis, takes the laurels for growth as a larger firm, while Jones, a specialty pharmaceutical company also based in St. Louis, takes the cake for the emerging company. In August of last year, King acquired Jones for $3.4 billion.
