London private equity firm 3i Group plc is investing $160 million in manufacturing company Q Holding.

The Twinburg, Ohio-based target is a manufacturer of rubber and silicone products used within the automotive, medical and pharmaceutical markets. Q Holding produces goods through its subsidiaries, QSR and Qure Medical, out of the company's facilities in North America and China.

3i hopes to expand the company in Europe and broaden its product offerings, something that the firm's U.S. division specializes in. The firm will also make add-on acquisitions to 3i.

3i's recent transactions include the sale of LHI Technology to Carlisle Cos. Inc. for $195 million in October, and a $110 million investment in A&A Manufacturing in August.
