Randy Schwimmer, one of the middle market’s best known lenders, weighs in on a wide range of issues affecting dealmakers in this video interview with Mergers & Acquisitions editor-in-chief Mary Kathleen Flynn. The interview took place at Mergers & Acquisitions’ The Best in M&A Speak virtual event, where we announced the winners of the 2021 Top 10 Middle-Market Deals of the Year. Schwimmer serves as senior managing director and co-head of senior lending of Churchill Asset Management. He also writes the The Lead Left newsletter, considered required reading by many dealmakers.

“I think investors are saying, ‘I’m still not getting the kind of yield that I’d like to get from my assets, and so trying to put money to work in what seems to be a quasi post-Covid environment is very attractive,” states Schwimmer.

“If you think about the economic outlook for businesses overall, the pent-up consumerism that’s clearly waiting for people who are getting out of their houses and trying to spend money,” adds Schwimmer. “I know, anecdotally, just trying to get summer vacation plans in order is a lot more challenging than I thought it would be several months ago, and if that kind of dynamic has played out across the nation, I think we’re in for a busy second half of the year. No question.”
