Weatherford Capital has appointed Todd Marcy as partner, where he will work alongside Founding Partner Drew Weatherford on the firm’s sports investment strategy and serve on its investment committee.
Marcy will lead deal sourcing, evaluation, execution, and portfolio management efforts across the firm’s “Sports Continuum” investment framework. The strategy is focused on opportunities spanning youth, collegiate and professional sports as the broader sports ecosystem continues to institutionalize and attract institutional capital.
Marcy joins from Avenue Capital Group, where he served as senior managing director and helped oversee the Avenue Sports Fund, a roughly $1 billion private equity vehicle investing in sports teams, leagues and related businesses globally. Earlier in his career, he held senior investment roles at Cohn Robbins Holding Corp., Blue Harbour Group, Principled Capital Management and Dolphin Equity Partners and began his career in investment banking at Bear Stearns.
